Rose M. Cocco, age 94, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2016. Born in Kennett Square, PA, she was the daughter of the late Caroline and Carmen Vattilano.

Rose was very involved with politics and did volunteer work for Joe Biden for 40 years. She was very proud of her big accomplishment of preserving 500 acres of land on Polly Drummond Road, which was owned by the University of Delaware and sold to the state to be used as the Middle Run White Clay Parkland.

Rose will be missed for her sense of humor, her willingness to help everyone and her delicious Italian meals she made. She was a beautiful person and to know Rose was to love her. Her family will treasure their memories of her Sunday spaghetti dinners, her Christmas Eve celebrations and spending the holidays together.

Rose will be dearly missed by her daughters, Diana Peel and her husband, Jerry, and Jean Cocco and her husband, Bill; her daughter-in-law, Patricia Cocco; her 8 grandchildren and her 14 great grandchildren. She is survived by her sister, Carolyn Tester, and her sister-in-law, Ennis Vattilano, and many nieces and nephews. Rose was predeceased by her husband, William; her son, Billy; and her brother, John.

A viewing will be held on Friday, November 11 from 10 AM to 12 Noon at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE, where a Celebration of Rose’s Life will begin at 12 Noon. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
